Position: Artistic Director
Washington DC's Tony Award winning Shakespeare Theatre Company (STC) has initiated a search for the successor to Michael Kahn, its founding Artistic Director. STC's Board of Trustees intends to identify and engage the successful candidate by late spring 2018.
The Shakespeare Theatre will offer an exceptional artist/artistic director the opportunity to work with a highly-accomplished staff and committed board to lead one of the most respected and admired theatres in America.
The Board seeks an accomplished artists whose talents as an artistic director, director dramaturge and/or other working theatre artist have been in evidence and nationally or internationally recognized over a significant period of time. S/he will have deep experience in directing and producing the classics while possessing a broad aesthetic and approach to planning and producing seasons that are grounded in the classical repertoire, while appealing to the broader interests of the Washington DC community.
The search committee is seeking an artistic leader who will form a collaborative relationship with STC's board and staff leadership to help lead STC to its next level of artistic accomplishment and community engagement.
