Position: Director of Development
South Coast Repertory, one of the country’s leading nonprofit theatres and foremost developer of new works for the stage, seeks a Director of Development to join a dynamic team of artists and staff in creating excellence onstage and in the community. This position works with executive and artistic leadership, the Board of Trustees and the Development staff to plan, implement and evaluate the theatre’s overall fund development program, as well as assisting with board development and long-range planning. The Director of Development is a member of the Executive Staff, supervises a staff of six and reports to the Managing Director.
SCR will offer an exceptional development professional the opportunity to lead, develop and implement a comprehensive resource development strategy to support SCR’s mission, programs and financial success. Reporting to Managing Director, Paula Tomei and working closely with the senior management team and the Board of Trustees, the Development Director leverages key relationships to ensure that the organization meets annual fundraising revenue goals.
The Development Director will bring significant expertise and strong leadership skills to SCR while demonstrating a history of success in raising funds for and collaborating within large and complex organizations. S/he will have had demonstrated success in overseeing operational functions in similar development organizations and will have a history of leading and motivating a staff in meeting measurable financial goals. The successful candidate will also have a history of working productively with colleagues as a member of a senior management team in similarly complex and successful organization(s).
